PROJECT BACKPACK!
Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase 25 backpacks full of school supplies. Promiseland will give these backpacks to area elementary principals to hand out to needy kids. Keep checking back from week to week to watch our progress!
The Good, the Bad, and the Peaceful
"Starting to argue is like making a crack in a dam. So drop the matter before a fight breaks out" (Proverbs 17:14, NIrV).
Will kids be going back to school in August where you live? What does "back to school" bring to mind? New Toughskins(R) jeans? Football games? Seeing your friends again? Homework and tests? Dreading the hard teacher? Gathering 'round to watch as a fight breaks out?
"A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bone" (Proverbs 14:30, NIV).
What better time of year to talk about conflict and getting along and caring about others than the start of a new school year?
"Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife" (Proverbs 17:1, NIV).
If you could teach your kids just one thing God says about peace, what would it be?
"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone" (Romans 12:18, NIV).
If you could equip kids with just one skill that would promote peace, what would you choose?
Here are some powerful things about peace (proving that you care more about others than winning an argument) we think God wants all kids to know:
WEEK 1: The best way to stop a fight is never to start one. Sometimes, to have peace, you just need to DROP IT. Otherwise, it's just like making a crack in a dam (Proverbs 17:14).
WEEK 2: Making peace doesn't make you weak. Sometimes you have to GIVE SOMETHING AWAY. Isaac's conflict with the locals over water rights shows us making peace doesn't come from a place of weakness, but of true strength (Genesis 26).
WEEK 3: It's better to let go than to get even. Sometimes you have to CHOOSE TO FORGIVE. Jacob was a liar and a cheat, but Esau demonstrated the upside of letting go (Genesis 33).
WEEK 4: Just because you didn't start a fight doesn't mean you can't stop it. Sometimes you have to GET INVOLVED. If not for the cool, calm wisdom of Abigail, everyone would've paid the price for Nabal's rude, selfish behavior and David's hot-headed reaction (1 Samuel 25).
(And for the fifth week, we'll depart from the norm and focus on a "faith skill," that of personalizing Scripture:
Think about what God says, and it'll change you. Philippians 4:8.)
So, pace, paz, paix, and shalom,

What should I expect when I visit?
Children are precious to you, to us, and especially to God. We consider it a privilege to be entrusted with the care of your children. We commit to nurture, love, and teach them about God and how to have a relationship with Him through Jesus. Promiseland is designed to be an exciting place where our children meet God (children focused worship), study God's Word (children's small groups) and where they are loved and cared for.
Anyone who volunteers in our Promiseland Children's Ministry has had a background check and training in the area where they serve. The check-in process and policies we have put in place are for the safety of your children, you and our workers.
If you are visiting, your first stop will be the Guest Check-In Station located in the Foyer. Our friendly staff will register your child/children. You and your child will receive an Adventure Pass (numbered lanyard which corresponds to your child's Adventure Pass number (a badge worn on their clothing)).
After you receive your Adventure Pass, you will be escorted with your child to either the Nursery check-in desk to receive a pager if your child is 0-5 years old, or to the Fellowship Hall for Promiseland LIVE! if your child is in Kindergarten to 5th grade. When you arrive at the nursery counter, a Nursery Volunteer will greet you and your child, issue you a pager which matches the Adventure Pass (identification badge) on your child. If you are needed for any reason during the service, you will be paged. Simply come to the Nursery counter and a Volunteer will meet you with your child.
When you pick up your child at the end of the service, please present your Adventure Pass to the Nursery Worker, Coaches (in the Fellowship Hall) or teachers (in the classroom) so that your child's Adventure Pass number can be matched to yours. Parents are encouraged to wear their lanyard in the Promiseland hallway and Fellowship Hall so that staff know you have a child in the program.
Health Policy
A warm welcome awaits your child provided he/she has not shown any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours:
- Fever greater than 100 degrees
- Cold or viruses (non-clear nasal drainage, coughs, sneezing or inflamed throats)
- Discharge from eyes
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Unusual rashes
- Contagious illness (chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye, croup, lice, ringworm, etc.)
If your child is on antibiotics, he/she should be on the medicine for at least 24 hours before coming to Promiseland. Parents must administer medication.
Thank you for your consideration for all the families and children in the Promiseland Kids! Program. It is our desire to see that the only thing children "catch" here is the joy of Christ!

Dusty Bottoms, Little Treckers and Little Rangers; Promiseland Tots Preschool Program
0 - Young 5 years old
In the Nursery area of Promiseland we strive to show God's love to each child by providing a safe and nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of each child in our care.
When you arrive at the nursery counter, a Nursery Volunteer will greet you and your child, issue you a pager, and place a corresponding identification sticker on your child. If you are needed for any reason during the service, you will be paged. Simply come to the Nursery counter and a Volunteer will meet you with your child.
Children spend the morning exploring a wide variety of toys and interacting with our caring staff. Snacks such as graham crackers or animal crackers are available. If you do not want your child to have these, please let the Nursery Volunteers know.
Our church also has a place for mothers to nurse their infants. This room is located in the women's restroom in the Promiseland hallway.
Also look for our WIGGLE ROOM located just off the foyer as you enter the Promiseland hallway. You may view and listen to the service as a family while your children can play.
Promiseland LIVE! & Promiseland Small Groups
K - 5th grade
Parents, take your kindergarten through 5th grade child down the Promiseland hallway and drop them off in the appropriate classroom (classrooms have signs both above and on the doors indicating the correct grade level). They will be received by their Promiseland Small Group leader who will accompany them throughout their morning. After a gathering time in their classroom, children go to Promiseland LIVE! where they experience lively worship, a Bible focused interactive storyteller, themed activities and crafts, prayer and memory verse work all centered around our virtue, or character quality, for the month. After about 30 minutes in Promiseland LIVE! children return to their classrooms to learn how to apply what they have just heard to their every day lives. This may include an object lesson, role-playing, games, craft, movie clip, special guest, drama, etc. They will gain insight on how to apply the Biblical principles taught in Promiseland LIVE!. Children end their morning back in the Fellowship Hall where we conclude with REWIND.
REWIND
Parents are encouraged to attend REWIND which runs for about 10 minutes immediately following both adult services. Parents enter the Fellowship Hall via the Promiseland hallway and display their lanyard to the Promiseland LIVE! staff. In this fast-paced and fun environment, families sit together and through fun, drama, movie clips and worship, hear what their children learned during Promiseland LIVE!
As families leave REWIND, parents are given resources (Fridge Door Cards, God Time Cards, etc.) to help them continue to teach and discuss the virtue throughout the rest of the week.
6th Grade
Children in 6th grade are invited to a class just for them during our second hour. Here they will learn the monthly virtue at a pace and style that is taylor made for the energy and learning needs of 6th graders. The 6th grade classroom is the last classroom at the end of the Promiseland hallway. SECOND HOUR ONLY
